About Me

Hi. My name is Mark and I'm a hobbyist iOS developer.
Flabby Santa was my first published game in 2015. It didn't do very well (and rightly so), but the experience I have gained has helped me improve subsequent games.
I have updated all of the graphics and re-written the game from scratch for the new holiday season.

My gaming life began early - during the heydays of the 80's. When I were a lad, I would look forward to buying Atari cartridges and C64 games on cassettes - usually for a small price of 1.99 or thereabouts. The games would often have rudimentary graphics and basic mechanics, but have a special place in my heart to this day. Games like Chuckie Egg, Dizzy, Elite, Ghosts 'n' Goblins and many more.
I guess I'm at that stage of my life where I wanted to recapture that feeling, so I decided to venture into game development in my spare time. I'm no indie developer - just a hobbyist.. so this is still all a big experiment.
I have written this game in my spare time in the evenings and holidays.

SpriteKit

Designed and written exclusively for iOS devices.
Written in Apple's own SpriteKit framework and Swift programming language, Flabby Santa has been written from the ground up as an exclusive iOS title.

Features

  • - Universal App. Works equally well on any iPhone or iPad.
  • - No adverts (I'm not a fan of in-game adverts)
  • - Highscores using Game Center

  • - Procedurally generated levels. Each player has a unique experience.
  • - Increasing difficulty as you progress through the levels

Cost

This game is provided completely for free, with no adverts or other annoyances.
This is a personal choice on my part. This isn't likely to pay off my mortgage, but it's how I feel.
For anyone who wishes, an in-app purchase is available to purchase the game and show support to indie type developers.

Gameplay

Procedural level generation

The game is designed for dipping in to fast and quick sessions. The levels are generated from a set of random noise sources that makes each level unique. No two users will play the exact same levels.

  • - Collect presents
  • - Avoid blocks
  • - Throw presents
  • - Icy Blocks can be destroyed for bonus points
  • - Roll snowballs down hills for bonus points
  • - Roll snowballs into icy blocks for more bonuses
